Now, ESPN the Magazine has put out their “Ultimate Standings” for the best franchises, and the Steelers rank a very high third overall, tops in the NFL on the list. The Mark Sanchez-Kellen Clemens Jets QB battle that is set for training camp is expected to be one of the better QB battles to watch this summer. Sanchez was the 5th overall pick, and there has not been buzz about a New York Jets QB since the team took Ken O’Brien in the first round years ago (unless you count last year’s Brett Favre saga)

The Bengals didn’t score a big free agent running back outside of one that they had last season - Cedric Benson. The team brought Benson back after he wrapped up the season on a high note with a couple of big games at the end of the season vs the Redskins, Browns and Chiefs.

Sporting news columnist Mike Florio released a list of top 10 first year player who will be feeling the heat this summer. His list covers quarterbacks who might start from Week 1 to wide receivers needed to deliver as rookies. Not surprisingly, the top three picks were rookie quarterbacks Matthew Stafford, Lions of the Lions, Mark Sanchez of the Jets and Josh Freeman of the Buccaneers

• Today, the NFL says goodbye to Trent Green , who hangs it up after starting just one game for the Rams last year. He had a fine career, but sadly, I’ll probably remember him best as 1) a concussion collector, and 2) the guy who got hurt so Kurt Warner got a chance in the NFL. Sorry, Trent, I know that’s not fair, but that’s the way it goes.
